Post-Surgery Period

post_surgery_periodAs soon as the incisions have been closed and taped, a surgical bra is applied. After breast augmentation, postoperative weakness, soreness and discomfort may be greatly reduced in the course of medication. Swelling gradually subsides and becomes unnoticeable in a few months. Stitches are hidden and will dissolve on their own.

During a few days after the surgery you will feel very tired and sore, but you’ll be up and around in 24 to 48 hours. Your pain and discomfort will control medications prescribed by your doctor.

After some days, the gauze bandage will be removed, and you will be given a surgical bra. You must wear it as directed by your surgeon. You may also fell a burning perception in your nipples during two weeks, but this will calm down soon. Your stitches will appear in a week to 10 days, but the tumor in your breasts will disappear in three to five weeks.

Returning to Normal Life

You will be able to return to work after a few days, but it depends on the degree of activity that is needed for your job.

You must follow the advice of your surgeon concerning when to begin exercises and normal activities. Your breasts will stay sensitive to direct stimulation for two to three weeks and you have to avoid much physical contact. But then your breast is no longer so sensible. It will be so after three to four weeks after breast augmentation surgery.

Your scars will stay strong and pink for at least six weeks. After they can stay the same size for several months, or even appear to widen. During several months, your scars will begin to hide, but they will never disappear absolutely.

After breast augmentation you will have to make mammograms. It is necessary for women who are in the special age group. The mammographic specialist should use a special technique to become sure that you get a trustworthy reading, as examined earlier.
