4. Will the breast implants feel like being natural breasts? This issue is much dependant upon such factors, as: o Pre – existing tissues. It is reasonable that the more natural tissue the woman had before the operation, the more of a chance she has to feel “naturally” after it. Therefore, it should be mentioned, that Cohesives or overfilled saline implants will make the breasts feel somewhat firmer than natural ones. o Overfill amount. If there would be too much volume, this will make breasts firm and rippling, if there would be too little volume, this will give ripples. It is extremely important to discuss the overfill amounts with the surgeon before the operation! o Implant filler. The experience shows that saline feels somewhat less natural in comparison with silicone gel or Hydrogel – filled breast implants. o Breast implants surface. Breast implants with smooth surface proved to be thinner than textured – surfaced ones. Although the difference is quite a slight one, and someone not – experienced may not even notice it, still, those women, who have had both consider that the can feel the difference well enough. o Breast implant placement. Overs have proved to more in a more natural way than undrs, though they may have a pronounced upper pole fullness, especially in case if the implants are overfilled. As for unders, they have a tendency to “jump” and get twitched, when the pectorals are used during every day movements. o Thickness / firmness of skin. It has been proved that the thicker and springier the skin is, the less the edges of the breast implants will be felt. As for the thinner skin, it will allow somewhat more palpable result. This is why most women with thin skin prefer breast implants under placement.
5. What are the possible complications, and what should be done in case if there is any? Just like any other medical procedure, breast augmentation can possibly result in some health condition worsening. In case if one of the following symptoms is experienced after the operation, the woman should call her surgeon or the on – call physician right away. - Any foul odor, coming form the incision areas, nipples, or everywhere else; - Excessive bleeding form the suture lines; - Either pus of cloudy discharge, coming form the incision areas, nipples, or everywhere else; - Any uncontrollable pain, which cannot be released by any means; - Implant extrusion; - Bottoming out of the breast implant; - Displacement of the breast implant; - The long - lasting temperature higher than 101 degree F; - Feeling of numbness in the legs; - Feeling of inability to pass waste (liquid or solid, or both of them); - Dizziness; - Deflation. The woman should contact her surgeon or the on – call physician and go to the emergency room immediately after she notices any of the following symptoms: - Blood in urine, feces or spitting up blood; - Abrupt or severe swelling and discoloration; - Skin gets black, and there is no way for it to be a bruise; - Vomiting; - Loss of consciousness; - Temperature higher than 105 degrees F; - Convulsions. Anyway, in case if any complication occurs, this does not mean it will end up in something bad at all. Here are some tips of how to behave if there is a complication: The woman is to stay calm anyway; It is necessary to have all emergency numbers, such as the surgeon’s, caretaker’s and / or the on – call physician handy and contact in order to be able to let them know of the problem as soon as possible; In case if there is a necessity to go to the emergency room, the surgeon is to be aware of the hospital the woman is going to; All the medications are to be taken along to the hospital; In case if it is possible, the woman should try to keep a written journal of all symptoms and complaints of her.
